11 Oct - Travel to Alice Springs

Too hot to continue north to Kingfisher camp (44degrees is our limit), we travel south to seek some cool air.

This is the Riversleigh Dinosaur site No4 - The fossils are in the formation on the top of the hills

It's bare and hot, flat country

and you get these....

At Camooweal, there's a whole bunch of sinkholes (vertical caves) with lakes)

Lea's didn't want to drop down into them so we moved on... it's still really hot

Now into the Northern Territory, the Devil's Marble area

This is the Ghan Railway/Highway crossing - North and South

Kind of flat and straight

The country along the way is magic

These interesting ant nest were only found in one area, where the ants have picked up the spinifex needles to line their holes....

and finally Alice!

8 Oct - Lawn Hill NP

Stunning oasis in the middle of the desert with gorges

6K of canoeing

A Barramundi swimming at our feet

Archer fish spitting water at Lea trying to get a raisin

Pretty good shot for a fish!

Outside the canyon, flat desert

Bower bird doing up his bow
