3 Oct - Travel to the Gulf

It turns outs that it's very difficult to travel from the Cape to the Gulf. Pormpuraaw and Kowanyama are closed to the public from October (too late for us), and the Dunbar-Artemis road was closed at Dunbar while the Mitchell River crossing is being rebuild.

We ended up using the Dunbar road to New Dixie and travelling through the Alice River Goldfields and the Gulf Cattle country - very isolated.

Lunch at Musgrave Road House

Recharged for a few days on the Gilbert river, taking photos of crocs and birds.

Lots of these little guys walked pass the camp to get to the water

But these ones seem to dig little hole away from the edge (to keep away from the crocs?)

Spoonbill under the watchful eyes of two little freshies

The Jabiru use their wings and do this little dance to round up fish
